Bovalar is at Carrer Bedoll, 9, on a quiet street next to the centre of Alcossebre, a few minutes' walk from Cargador beach. The first thing to do when you arrive is call in at the Casa Azahar office (Avenida Las Fuentes 11) to collect the keys; in low season you can agree your arrival time with them.
Without a car: train and bus
Many older travellers prefer not to drive. Alcossebre has good alternatives:
- Train: the nearest station is Alcalà de Xivert, with regional (Media Distancia) trains on the lines to Valencia and Barcelona. It's about 10 km from town, around 12 minutes by taxi. Another option is Benicarló-Peñíscola, about 30 minutes away.
- Bus: Alcossebre is served by AMSA (Autos Mediterráneo), Avanza, with services from Madrid, and HIFE, with services from Castellón, Valencia and Zaragoza.
- Plane: the nearest airport is Castellón, about 25 minutes away; Valencia is roughly 1 h 30 min away, check which one has the best connection from your local airport.
Timetables and stops change with the season: check them on the official page how to get to Alcossebre.
By car
- AP-7: exit 44 (Alcossebre-Torreblanca).
- N-340: parallel to the motorway; from it, the CV-142 brings you into Alcossebre.
- Bovalar has an underground car park at extra cost; there's no need to book it beforehand.
Approximate times without traffic, estimated with OpenStreetMap: from Valencia, 1 h 30 min (about 120 km); from Zaragoza, 3 h 30 min (about 255 km); from Madrid, 5 h 15 min (about 465 km). On long journeys, plan a stop every two hours.
Once you're in Alcossebre
From Bovalar you can walk in a few minutes to Cargador beach, the seafront promenade, the tourist office and supermarkets, restaurants and cafés. For the Friday market in Alcalà de Xivert, about 9 km away, you'll need a car, taxi or bus.
