The Bovalar apartments in Alcossebre are on a quiet street next to the town centre, a few minutes' walk from Cargador beach and the seafront promenade. It's a three-storey complex with a lift, garden, sun terrace and seasonal pool, and its two-bedroom apartments have heating and air conditioning: a very practical combination for anyone travelling outside the summer.
Why Bovalar suits older travellers and retirees
Bovalar brings together what people ask for most when they travel at a gentle pace with no rush to get home:
- A lift to every floor: no stairs with the suitcases or the shopping.
- Central: supermarkets, restaurants, cafés and the tourist office, close by and on foot.
- Heat-pump heating for winter nights and air conditioning for June and September.
- Spacious apartment: about 60 m² with two bedrooms, living room with sofa bed, open-plan kitchen and terrace.
- Peace and quiet: a complex with extensive gardens and a calm atmosphere.
- Flexible check-in and check-out in low season, by arrangement with Casa Azahar.

What a Bovalar apartment is like
All the Bovalar apartments have two bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with two 90 cm single beds), a living room with a double sofa bed, an open-plan kitchen with oven, ceramic hob, microwave and washing machine, a bathroom with bath, Wi-Fi and a terrace overlooking the garden and the pool. They may be on the ground, first or second floor. We go into detail in apartments with a lift in Alcossebre, where we also introduce Mare Nostrum, right in the centre and also with a lift.
Alcossebre out of season
Alcossebre enjoys more than 2,700 hours of sunshine a year according to AEMET, with mild winters (average highs of about 16 °C) and springs and autumns made for strolling. Outside July and August the town returns to its own pace: wide, quiet beaches, the Alcalà de Xivert market on Friday mornings all year round, gentle walks and traditional fiestas spread across the seasons. We cover it season by season in our guide to Alcossebre in autumn, winter and spring.

For a longer stay
Alcossebre is a good place to spend several weeks, or even a month, of winter sun away from the cold back home. If that's your plan, you'll find practical tips (what to pack, nearby services, getting around without a car) in long stays in Alcossebre.
